Will we ever be ready to depart Mandurah?

Yesterday, 18 April 2021, the end of the school holidays in WA, was our target depature day.  And of course the weather is perfect for sailing north.  But sailing friends and the internet are full of stories about people preparing to go sailing, but never actually leaving!

We are almost ready.  I spent last week filling the holds under our seating with $1200 of shopping which raised lots of questions like "how many tins of tomatoes will we need?" and "does S2ee really need that many packets of chips, biscuits and chocolate?".

I have also been cooking some meals to freeze for our early days at sea, in case sea sickness sets in and we don't feel up to cooking.

S2ee has done an amazing job servicing every engine and piece of equipment on board, and has been buying spare parts for EVERYTHING.

We have visited travel and personal doctors and now have a comprehensive medical kit with enough antibiotics, wound dressing and creams to treat any emergency.

There just remains shopping for fresh and frozen goods, filling the fuel tanks,  MRIs on my sore feet and a follow up appoinment with the specialist, and then we are off.

In the meantime, we have spent some amazing sailing days with friends and family, most recently with the lovely Alyesha Anderson.   With her flash camera, S2ee posed for some shots of him single-handedly sailing the boat in some very challenging conditions!

So no, we dont intend adding to those sailor stories about never leaving.  The next weather window from the end of this week will definitely be departure day.   Stay tuned for news about our first sailing adventure (or a laugh if we are still in Mandurah!).

Love to all
S2ee and Naomi
